Fall expected by European freight forwarders

A survey of freight forwarders by Danish institution Danske Bank shows that a decline in freight volumes across all modes is anticipated over the coming period. Expectations for the next two months are at an all time low although the good news for the shortsea sector is that freight is only expected to decline “marginally”.

More than 130 forwarders were canvassed - 30% specialising in sea freight – resulting in a spokesperson from the bank saying: “Expectations are now at the all-time low. Decreasing volumes are therefore still expected going forward”

Road, rail and air will be hit hardest but sea freight volumes are expected to decline only marginally.
