Biggest ever Chemical & Product Tanker conference

Navigate's Chemical & Product Tanker conference (8-9 March 2011), run in conjunction with the International Parcel Tanker Association, proved to be its biggest ever, with 150 shipowners and operators, charterers and others involved in the chemical and product tanker market gathering at London's Tower Bridge Hilton hotel for two days of discussion, debate and networking. Opened by the IMO secretary general Efthimios Mitropoulos, the conference included sessions on vessel supply and demand, chemical industry trends, piracy, environmental and safety regulations and tanker vetting.

Conference director Bill Lines said: "Since we launched this event in 2009 we have seen it grow and establish itself as an important conference for senior commercial and technical executives working in this niche sector. We had attendees from Asia, Europe and the USA and very good feedback from our delegates. We intend to hold the next conference on 6-7 March 2012 in London again."

According to one delegate, R Alvaraz, finance director at John T Essberger the event has become "a must-attend for all professionals working in the chemical tanker business." He added: "The presentations were thoroughly prepared and the conference was held in a nice environment with excellent speakers and delegates."
