Marnavi vessel pirated off Oman

An Italian product tanker has been hijacked off the coast of Oman. The Enrico Ievoli, owned by Naples based Marnavi, was heading towards a rendez-vous point with a Chinese armed convoy when it was attacked. All 18 crew aboard the vessel are reported unharmed and the vessel is sailing towards Somali waters.

The vessel was carrying 15,750 tonnes of caustic soda from the UAE to the Mediterranean. The Marnavi website contains regular updates on the situation.
