19-20 June 2012
Hilton Hotel, Antwerp

Navigate Events is delighted to invite the European shortsea community to its annual gathering in Antwerp, right at the heart of the European shipping scene. This is the latest in a series of conferences designed to bring together shipping companies and their customers as well as a range of service providers including ports, terminals, forwarders, 3PLs and others. No other event unites such a wide group of industry players. Previous conferences have attracted over 180 delegates and we expect Antwerp to be our biggest gathering so far.

Whether you are involved with the bulk sector and need to gain a broad overview of the movement of aggregates and industrial minerals around Europe; a shipper who wants to meet shortsea logistical partners; a shipping company in the unitised cargo business or a provider of services/equipment to European shipping companies or ports, attending Shortsea-Euro 2012 will connect you to the experts and decision makers.

The focus of this event is about bringing the end users of shipping services together with shipping providers. All too often the shortsea shipping option is seen as a complicated and difficult option for supply chain managers. Through case studies from companies as diverse as Imerys, FloraHolland, Boliden and Norvik Timber Industries, the conference discusses the role of shortsea in the supply chain and highlights best practice.

The programme has been designed to be as wide ranging and thought provoking as possible and we look at the opportunities in Russia, developments in the offshore energy market, the likelihood of LNG becoming a credible alternative fuel for ships, how ports can be competence centres for integrated logistics as well as the freight market outlook for all the main trades.

The event starts with a pre-conference guided walking tour around Antwerp – not only a key port, but a diamond city, a centre for fine arts and fashion and a city where the Baroque painter Rubens lived. Following a day of debate, discussion and learning, delegates will also be treated to a dinner aboard a boat cruising around the port of Antwerp.

We continue the conference on the second day for more discussions and debate. The conference is being held at the elegant Hilton Antwerp hotel in the heart of the city.
